What Should I Do?

I would NOT put any Plecos in that tank even if the filter is powerful enough, I think that it is unfair to have 5 2 inch Plecos, in a 5 gallon tank, just because the LFs does is doesn't mean it's okay, thats a temp. Setup and if I may ask where are you going to get a bigger tank in 2 months, you relize how fast plecs grow, right, is even if you did keep them until they were a couple of inches big from 1 inch big that would mean that you would have to find a home for them in a matter of months

"I would NOT put any Plecos in that tank even if the filter is powerful enough, I think that it is unfair to have 5 2 inch Plecos, 4-5 1 inch endlers, and 1 3 inch Betta. I honestly think that you are fully stock and you cannot get anymore fish with the stocking of 1 male Betta and 4-5 endlers"

Sorry for the confusion
I meant a pleco only tank.
All the plecos will be under 1 inch

I really, really most strongly advise against putting any sort of plec in a tank that size; even baby ones.

Plecs (all members of the plec family) are incredibly messy with a very heavy bioload, and growing fish produce more waste than an adult fish of the same size.

In a 5.5g tank you just don't have the volume of water to dilute the waste, and you're going to have water quality problems and sick fish very quickly, IMO.

Tanks that size are really suitable only for fish that grow to an inch or so, adult length; dwarf emerald rasboras, celestial pearl danios, ember tetras, chilli rasboras or male Endler's or guppies would all work and give you a much healthier, more attractive tank.

I don't see any mention of the OP having a larger tank

Yes I would HIGHLY suggest against any plec as well for the reasons stated above. Also their growth may be stunted in a tank that small as well causing even more problems. I'd just stick to endlers shrimp etc. etc.

I agree with the above ^ .
It WILL get stunted, your water conditions will be bad and Its just not fair on the pleco.

Then why are there like 50 plecos in a 10 gallon tank at my LFS?
They've been there for ages.

Because, first of all, LFS stocking is not comparable to a home situation; the intention (even if the fish have been there for ages) is that it's only a temporary home, with a high turnover of fish.

Secondly, most LFS have massive filtration systems out back and racks of tanks running on one system, so the actual amount of water available and flowing through the tank is much larger than the size of the tank would suggest.

It's still not ideal, and not something you should try at home.

Because at the LFS they're main goal is to sell fish so they can do that.

Oops, I am really starting to mess everything up now, thanks for catching that flutter moth, I was thinking about something else and somehow I thought that the OP meant they had a 35 gallon or something like that and the wanted the plecs, okay. Sorry. Yeah, I agrees with all the above posts saying not to put the plecs in the tank :good:
