Hey guys, a few days ago I posted a topic on whether or not fish can choke on food, because I'm 99% sure my false perc. clown did.. This was the 2nd mate for the other (Assumed female) clown in the tank. The first mate, she actually took a liking to him and they paired well. The second (The one that recently died) she did not. It took a month or so for her to lay off of him a bit. Now This would be the third attempt. Should I get another smaller clown or should I go with another fish? Right now, that clown is the only fish in the tank along with some inverts.. I'd love a fire goby, but I'm thinking that it would be too shy for this clown? Any suggestions???

You could talk to your LFS and get a clown and say if it doesn't get on, can you bring it back and swop it or somthing?

Just an idea :good:

Another idea, ask if you can take the clown you have back in exchange for two juvies (plus some money) already in the same tank :good:

Must admit, I like to see a pair of clowns, one just doesn't seem right some how

I thought about that Seffie, but I also considered the fact, I've had this one clown for 3/4" of a year, I know she is really healthy, eats well, and has tons of personality... I know a lot of clowns are the same, but I like this one especially. She has "dog" like qualities even if it's just impulse :) I know what you mean about having a pair. I feel bad, that fish just looks plain bored by herself...

Sorry if I sound rude,
but could I see a picture of your whoel tank

I'd love to see it! :good:

Dude thats not rude at all... I have actually never posted a picture of it on here. The rockwork is not really organized because I'm living somewhere on a temporary basis, but I can try to post a pic..

Thanks, carnt wait to see it :D

I love marine tanks, one day I will try setting one up. I got put off with the w/c, how you need water from a LFS. but then I saw how cheap it was. I was expecting £30 minimum for like a 50% w/c.

But anyway thats another story, Carnt wait to see the pic :good:

Ok dumb question, but since I never posted a pic, how do I do so??? Also these pics I have are from a very old camera... Don't scrutinize! lol

Sorry for the blurry pics... My tank is pretty basic... I will be upgrading to the biocube (Hopefully) in October... This one is a 29 gallon hex...

This is a very nice tank, never saw a marine hex before. Theres nothing wrong with basic, Thats how everyone starts off else they make mistakes.

Very nice tank though mate! :good:

Thanks man... It's very basic, but it's better than nuking an expensive setup... I haven't personally killed any animals accidently, so that's my claim to fame lol. It's my starter tank, been going for 2 years. Every couple months I add something or do a little something with the tank. By this fall I should be ready for a reef tank. Hopefully...

Sounds like you did a good job then :good:

I know what you mean, I have got attached to my two clowns - had wanted a maroon clown and thought of selling the clowns but my heart just will not let me do it  If I lost a clown I would go find the smallest one i could, then put it in at night, after the other clown has been fed and with the lights off

Thanks...
Yeah I think that's a good call Seffie, I will probably go and get a smaller one and try to introduce later on after feeding.. I'll try that next week... Hopefully the one I have does't get too used to running the show all by itself... Also depeding on my LFS.. She's very strict on when someone can take a fish home, depending on how long it's been there and if it's eating or not. Can't say I can find a better LFS around here...
