I'm in a bit of situation.

I currently have in my 260L tank...

1 8" Male Red Spotted Severum
1 2" Female Gold Severum
1 4" Female Pink Convict
1 6" Male Blood parrot
1 2" Female Jack Dempsey
about 30 Yellow Labs at varying sizes, with 6 adult breeding group
3 6" Electric Blue Haps
4 3" Tiger Barbs
1 12" Common Plec
1 3" Rainbow Shark

Now i never set out to have this stock, i just took other peoples stock from them....then got attatched.

My mrs won't let me get rid of the labs or haps, and i wont get rid of the Severums

In a ideal world i'd get shot of JD and Africans and up my group of Tiger Barbs.

Any suggestion's? don't flame me over the weird stock, i know its my own fault for helping other people out, when LFS's wont take in fish....even for free....it was take them, or my friend was going to bog them.

good on you for taking them in :good: got to be better than going down the loo.

my stocking is just as good with a Betta, GBR and a RTBS all living together peacefully too

Your stocking is crying out for another tank... one for the malawi's and one for the sevs and jd etc. Nice excuse really...

haha i know ;)

Sad thing is they all get on perfectly! and all feed from the same pellets, and all are in a neutral PH.

They will eventually all outgrow the tank tho, this i know.

Priority for me is the Severums and my Big Plec.

I did have more tiger barbs but think my Severum ate them when they were smaller.

Wonder what somebody would pay me for my Yellow Lab colony? there is 6 adults (2 male and 4 female...all 4") and stupid amounts of babys, which only a few are over an inch in size, will try and catch sell them when they are at a worthwhile size.

Im suprised they all breed in a PH of 7.

My Parrot breeds with my convict all the time also, but never any fry.

I'm hoping my Severums pair off later on, then i'll have to do a big overhaul of the tank.

The Jack Dempsey female was a freebie to, i'm not to bothered of havign to offload her, shes only tiny at the mo

LOL! I'm not really up on Malawi's but wouldn't they be fine in the current 260 tank? Assuming it is one of Juwel/Fluvals bow fronted tanks? Maybe thin out to what would be acceptable for this tank and get the ph buffered up to around 8?

For the americans i would try and source a 5ft/6ft tank especially with you having the Sevs as they get big! The Plec would appreciate 6ft for sure! The shark and barbs would find plenty of space to retreat to one part of the tank should they feel the need. When i had tiger barbs they weren't bothered by anything at all... lol! They're one hard fish that don't take no #105### from no one!

I have read that alot of male parrots are duds so this will be the reason why!

I believe elisew was after some yellow labs, check the classifieds for other malawi sales, i'm sure she commented.

I just sold a 6ft tank, because i didnt have the room :( (along with my beloved Jag, Salvini, Texas, Oscar, Gibbi Plec and Rotkeil Sevs)

The Common has stopped growing i think, i rescued him from a 2ft tank last week, hes been 12" for the last 2 years so they tell me....so chances are stunted.

Again the big Red Sev came from a 3ft tank and its 4 years old @8"...the other Sev was mine.

The Malawis are all fully grown, same as the parrot.

Ohh and yes its a Fluval Vicenza 260 (with a broken lighting unit thats going to cost me £162 to replace!)

I'd love to swap my Malawis for just one good sized Ellioti....never seen one in real life before

LOL! I would bodge a make do and mend lighting unit in there mate... They're about £30 from the lfs i think. Even if it's just low lighting (which it will be obviously) at least you can enjoy your fish!

Yeh but it will look ugly, and my mrs is very fussy lool :p

I will deffo look into it, i think she would rather pay the £162 tho grrrrrr

Another reason i want to thin this lot out is the #41#### waterchanges...im doin 80% a week to keep them healthy!

I think you definately need to look into rehoming some of the fish and if you have no plans to have another tank then you need to make a decision between the africans and the americans....

Americans all day for me, but the mrs loves the labs (because of the constant baby fish)
