What Sand To Use ?

just read a post that some one had bought play sand for there tank.
Is this ok to use as its 10 times cheaper that the sand from an aquarium shop ?

+1, I used to get mine from Tesco garden centre (not common) at 60p per large bag

looking at buying THIS. I have 48",15",18" tank so can someone tell me how much I would need ?

15 or 30kg will give you a good basic covering.. but for plants I prefer to use closer to 60kg as I like to have a deep bed (4"+ in places)

just make sure you rinse this stuff! it will cloud the water.... trust me

I just used 2 bags of this or my 5ft tank. 2 bags would be plenty!!

I used half a bag of the 15kg on a 24 x 12 inch tank

Fill the bottom of a bucket and run a shower head on it to get the mess out.

have been and bought it , have changed it all looks pretty good gives a very clean look to the tank goin to try with some live plants the weekend
