What Plants?

Ok, so all my plants came from the lfs and carried aquatic labels. One in particular (Dracaena sanderiana Red) has been identified by a member on this forum as, not only non-aquatic but possibly poisoness too!!!! Also, I have some grass like stuff that apparently is not aquatic as well.

It's all growing but I am going to take those two out at least

So, I need suggestions on two REAL aquatic plants that grow tall and have colour other than green.

I am on a heavy planted look and have some aquatics so please suggestions in pairs please only....thanks

Hi Doresy,

Rotala rotundifolia is an ideal plant that fits your requirements perfectly, and it is very easy to grow. Let it grow to the top of the tank once you have first planted, and then cut it right back. A much bushier plant will grow back that is green at its lower length and turns red as it nears the water surface. The more you prune it, the better it will come back.

For the grassy look you could consider any of the Vallisneria sp. This is also easy to keep, but thrives at its best in harder water. If you are feeling a little Takashi Amano, you could try Eleocharis vivipara, which looks fantastic as a background grass.

Well thank you to all.....will deffo check out that rotala rotundifolia you are right, fits the bill nicely!
My tank looks a right mess now as have taken out all but one type of plant that I know IS aquatic. Mind you I can now do a really good gravel vac before getting plants at the weekend
