Hi Guys,

What plants are the best to try to grow with severums in the tank,

Ive never had much luck with plants in the past, I dont have a C02 or yeast system in place just the aquariums lighting.

My severums are big plant eaters I know so hopefully I can find something that can cope with a bit of munching and still manage to thrive for a while?

Perhaps thats wishfull thinking but any suggestions are welcomed as Id like to try and slowly replace some of my artificual plants now I have the tank cycled and running.

Regards as ever

anubias is the strongest plant, vallis is also pretty tough along with onion plant

it is also best to plant as early as possible, to give the plants a head start, and the use the NH3 as nutrients.

Severums will eat vallisneria at the near bottom of each leaf, meaning that the rest of the leaves will be floating on your top as you are left with a little nub. Anubias and onions might be OK, but more than likely the onion will end up with bite marks in it (little holes taken out of it), turning brown, and you'll have to cut it off at a lower point. Be careful with the size of you tank and the stocking capacity with the severums. They are subjet to hole-in-the-head. At least, I had that problem when mine grew large for the tank.

Thanks

I have 3 small severums in there just now, I wanted to get more to see if 2 would pair off but was worried about what I would do with the others once I got a pair..so Opted for 3 to see if I was lucky to get a pair from them.

I will then be left with 1 lad to find a home for.

I did keep severums b4 and got them as a pair and recall they ate my plants like mad they realy munched on them so Its the price you pay I guess for loving them but I still need to try and get a plant/s that they can eat and still manage to grow wtithout me constantly having to buy new plants.. perhaps wishfull thinking with the severums but you never know till you try or ask someone whos done it b4 eh..

Thanks again
:good:
