I have noticed after watching my betta try to eat his HBH Betta Pellet Food, he cant fit them in his mouth very well... he trys to eat them twice, then gets annoyed and dont bother with it anymore....

Can someone please tell me what pellet food is best for smaller betta's?
It needs to be a pellet food... Not live/frozen foods, because he dont even eat them... i put some brineshrimp in his tank, and he just ignores it like its not there...
Atleast the HBH Betta Food he will *try* to eat...

So if someone knows of a Pellet Betta Food that is small enough for betta's with small mouths that would be great!

Hi
We have "Attisons Betta Pro" and thats fairly small, well they're smaller than Hikari betta gold anyway.

Cheers

Only problem with that food, is its frickin expensive :|

Anyone know of any other food that is smaller than HBH? (i'd say he requires atleast half the size of the HBH Food)

So? If it's a better quality, and it works, the price should not be a problem.

Why not just break the pellets you have in half, that's what I did with my girl when she wasn't eating very well.

try soaking it til you see it's expanded a bit, then when he bites down he'll actually bite in to it, also soaking the food keeps it from expanding inside the fish which causes the constipation and bloating you hear about .. also do you just drop it in or feed it off the tip of something? see if you can get his attention on the food by leading him a little before you touch the food down to the water for his bite

No, i mean i would buy it in a heart beat, but right now i dont have that much i can spend at the monent... on petsmart.com that sells for over $7... so maybe if i can find a place that sells it cheaper, i would buy it ASAP....

How much does that food normaly sell for in a LFS?

I normaly just drop it in near him, but ill have to try the soaking it tip, and ill try to feed it to him using a tweezer or something.... that might help...

Thanks for that tip!

I would try crushing or breaking the pellets in half, thats what I did when the girls were too small to eat them whole.

Hikari makes a micro pellet.
I'd just do as others have said though... just break the pellet into smaller pieces. That way you don't have to go out and spend money on more food that you don't really need.

Try some live worms. I know I keep harping on about the anti internal med bacteria but the reason is that Jaffa was so ill,, wouldn't eat, although to start with he tryed and just spat it out, he was also nose down sometimes, or just falling. I really thought quite a few times i'd lost him. So it may be worth trying that medication. As he regained strength he finaly started to eat live worms and will now chomp on most things except flakes which he still spits out. He is absolutely brilliant now.
