I have a 30l(8g) biorb tank and in there I have 6 ember tetras and 2 leopard danios. And I was wondering what fish should I get next I would quite like something that's ok on it's own and has big fins and is colourful and ok with the. Fish I have ty

That tank is kind of small for too many fish. sparkling gourami are pretty and only get 2" at the biggest. Small tanks are hard not much you can put in them.

A sparkling gourami is ok with or with out tank mates. Males will fight each other and they are hard to sex when young. so getting one would be fine IMO. They are a lot like a betta but even smaller. They should be kept in a group of 6 or a pair and one will be just fine alone. These are not schooling fish but can be social. They are shy fish that need lots of cover. They are strong little guys that can hold there own with fish a bit larger them then. They can be nippy At times but for the most part are peaceful.

I said 2" before but it's more like 3cm or 1". 2cm for females.I have been doing lots of research on these guy because my lfs has them and I have a few empty small tanks. They are very neat fish. There is another dwarf gourami that looks a lot like the tiny sparkling but get a little bigger at 5cm or 2".

There is a cool YouTube video about them that gives great info.
