Im relativly new to fish keeping and want to add some more fish, just dont know what to add and what would fit in....

125 litre (32.5 gallon) tank - set up on 25 jan 2005. So far....
1 platy (female), 1 Red Tailed shark, 1 Coral Blue Gourami and 1 Red Honey Gourami, 3 Corydoras (bronze), 9 Cardinal and 6 Glowlight tetras, 3 Algae Eaters, 2 Dwarf Frogs

HELP!!!

Just to let you know that those algae eaters won't eat algae and as they get older they will get vicious unless you mean a sucker fish. And thats plenty of fish for that size tank. :)

I think you are fully stocked as well, and the red tailed shark really needs a 40gal tank.

local fish shop seemed to thing I could add many more fish....??

Well most lps don't know squat about stocking or about fish for that matter. So you are stocked well. And like I said about the algae eaters they won't eat algae they just eat those sinking pellets you have to fed them and as they get older and bigger they will get vicious to each other and everyone else in the tank.

are you assuming that "algae eater" mean a CAE ?
that's a very wild assumtion to make considering that there is a multitude of fish that fall into the "algae eating catagory" :/

africadan, the lfs would almost always think you can add more fish. More fish in your tank = more money in their pocket ;)

Usually does. Thats the only fish commonly called 'Algae Eater'. If it was a pleco s/he'd say plec or something similar.

Well I thought both cae and sae were both aggressive and the person didn't answer my question about if it was a pleco.

I doubt the angel fish or the gouramis will get along together.

How tall is the tank? Because an angel gets 5" to 6" long adn 8" tall. And those fish you have are basically called golden algae eaters and if you read their compatiblity you will see that it says they get aggressive as they get older. And they should work together as long as you have a tall and long tank.

oh dear - unfortunately not
CAE's should only be kept no more than one per tank - as they grow, so does their aggression and territorial instinct.

If kept, they should not be kept with slim bodied fish such as Angels - apparently they like sucking on the slime coats of these slower moving fish

They also grow very very large and tank specimens I believe reach up to about 10 " (in the wild they can be bigger though). So perhaps you want to rehome them or at least two.

it's frustrating when that happens :/
but at least you know now while you can still do something about it and before things start going wrong.

that is very common.......

i would just rehome the algea eaters and get a few ottos instead. or a small plec such as the rubber lipped which grows to 6 inches i belive. then i would get a few more female platties. this is probly the most you can put in here. as a tip make sure there is plenty of little caves and such for the shark. mine(i have a rainbow)loves to hide.
