What Kind Of Fish Is This?!

about 2 months ago, we started a freshwater tank with our kids.

we got 2 platys and 1 fish which we thought was a silver dollar.


i now have no idea what this fish is! he doesn't look like a silver dollar. a few people on this board suggested he might be some sort of pearl danio but i'm not sure he looks like that?

any thoughts?!

Giant danio, quite a large boisterous shoaler that ideally needs plenty of friends to prevent any aggression from developing.

They also require lots of swimming space to be happy

In shape it looks almost identical to my Zebra Danios so I'd suggest as the others have that it is a Danio.

Could be Devario malabaricus or Devario aequipinnatus (Malabar/Giant Danio respectively).

all the danio photos i'd seen seemed to have more spots than stripes, so i didn't know!
