Hi

on my planted driftwood ive been gatting these little black dots. i left it for a while and its a bit bigger and its like little black hairs. me and my friend have them and ive noticed its only where the air bubbles are.

what can i do to get rid of it ?

Sounds like Black Beard Algae (BBA). Nasty stuff.

Got any pics?

If it is then I recommend you remove you wood and bleach it if you want rid.

It makes sense that it located near your airstone - algae adapts well to high oxygen environments. Airstones aren't a good idea in planted tank as they drive of CO2 - a vital nutrient to all plants.

This may sound controversial, but you may want to do nothing. I had what looked to be black brush algae growing on my wood, but I believe it could just be some type of fungus. If your wood is still very new, it is probably going through this phase and could clear up.

Whenever I try to remove algae, all I do is spread it around.
