I was just wondering what different people add on different days etc. Due to their water, or adjusted to their lights etc.

I thought it might be useful for a list of peoples differing regimes, and reasons why they are different.

Please include your tap water parameters and lighting or anything which has influenced your dosing calculation.

Forgot to add, am also interested in your fish loads i.e. what you add if you have a few fish, what you add if you are over stocked (like me)

(I think you can guess I might finally be giving in to the EI method)

This is on my high light 24lt nano, is a 2 day cycle due to the size of the tank.

Day 1 - 50% water change, then add 1ppm PO4 and 10ppm NO3. I also add 1ml tropica plant nutrition

Day 2 - 1ml plant nutrition

Day 3 - 50% water change, the add 1ppm PO4 and 10ppm NO3. I also add 1ml tropica plant nutrition

Day 4 - 1lm plant nutrition

And so on for all eternity.....

Right, in answer to Andy's question which I completely missed the first time around, I chose this regime as I use RO water cut with tap so there is little NO3 or PO4 added to the tank during water changes and HC in particularly is NO3 hungry. I was originally dosing 1.5ppm PO4 but cut it back when the plants weren't growing. Also, given the size of the tank weekly water changes weren't working so (based on Georges nano) I upped them to every other day.

All that said I've had some serious issues with this tank and its gone completely Pete Tong, so this might change when I finally get it going again.

That better?

Because my water is so hard (GH28,KH15) I have to use RO water which is blended 7 parts with 1 part tap water. As the GH is nearly all Calcium I add some Magnesium and also a little Potassium. EI dosinig is basically exactly what is recommended as I find it works best. Lighting is 3.5WPG T8. Tank size is 210 litre or about 46 UK Gallons.

SUNDAY: 60% Water change. 8ppm NO3 and 2ppm PO4
MONDAY: 10ml Traces
TUESDAY: 8ppm NO3 and 2ppm PO4
WEDNESDAY : 10ml Traces
THURSDAY: 8ppm NO3 and 2ppm PO4
FRIDAY: 10ml Traces
SATURDAY: Rest day

Any less dosing and algae appears.

My tap water has 1ppm phosphates and 10ppm nitrates. This means that my only modification to the EI method is that I rarely dose phosphate because it runs at 2ppm in my tank

Day 1 50% water change, dose 10ppm nitrate, 1ppm phosphate.

Day 2 5ml AE trace.

Day 3 5ppm nitrate.

Day 4 5ml AE trace.

Day 5 5ppm nitrate, 1ppm phosphate.

Day 6 5ml AE trace.

Day 7 Restart as per day 1.

I have 3.4WPG using Interpet Triplus and Daylight Plus T5s and 30ppm pressurised CO2. I have a lot of light, so I have to make sure I am meticulous with my regime to keep the algae away.

Dave.
