Hi all, I have had my tank runnining for a few weeks now and all seems to be ok after appalling advice from my LFS so thanks to those on here that helped me out in a previous thread. I have another question for you though after doing a water change around an hour ago i have noticed lots of very very tiny worm/maggott shaped things on the glass and attached to the outside of the filter. Any ideas on what it is? and more importantly if i need to do anything about it. Many thanks in advance.

Sonds like planaria. Are you overfeeding? They're not harmful but they usually indicate overfeeding.
Yes maybe iam overfeeding a little i shall cut back and see what happens thank you.

Sounds logic to me, so I'd suggest that you actually skip at least 3 days of feeding anything at all, and then start cutting down. (fish will eat the "Planaria"... which in MHO, is just adult infusoria).

planaria, I went to the pocono mountains for three days and I came home to a mess of them from my fiances mom, Im amazed my dog didnt gain 30lbs in the three days either, my poor fish was so bloated and my tank was very gross. I didnt feed for three days, then stripped it down and bleached it.

Just vacuum the gravel thoroughly and cut feeding for 3 days and the problem should take care of itself.

It actually seems almost normal to get one round of planaria in a new tank which then harmlessly goes away. We see it a lot here.
