I purchased this fish about 3 months ago @ LFS and was adamantly told it was a male fancy guppy. I had my doubts as it looked like a very pregnant female but figured it didn't matter to me anyway. Now after 3 months and no change in appearance, I am wondering what is this fish.

I have kept him/ her separated up until 2 weeks ago then put it in my female tank. No fry from this fish at all or change in belly size. Fins look female to me too. So could this be some type of hybrid the is sterile? Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

defintally a female guppy. although it looks like either bloating, swimbladder, or internal parasites. No way is that fish not diseased by the looks of it.

oh yea that almost certainly is diseased or pregnant, yikes looks like its about to pop!

That's the kind of picture people post when they ask how long it will be before their guppy has its fry. If you're telling us that it has always looked like that, with no changes at all, I would say it was deformed. If it were diseased, it would have succumbed to the disease by now.

She eats and swims fine. No problem out of the rest of my tank- in fact my other females are dropping fry like they are on a production line : ) (Males have been separated from them for the last 1-2 Months)

That picture was taken about 2-3 weeks ago. This is one from this morning. I highly doubt she's pregnant but if it were disease would she still be acting as healthy as the others?

A male 'fancy guppy'?  Aside from the fact it's clearly female is it possible this guppy was deliberately bred to have a deformed stomach, similar to fancy goldfish?

id doubt that, although there are balloon guppies so maybe.

random image i found of what is called a balloon guppy, this looks a lot similar to mhortons fish, so it very well could be a bred characteristic.

I see a very red gill, or even a separation at the gill, maybe I am just seeing things at a bad angle though, but you are probably right about the "a little off".

I feed all of my tanks about the same everyday and she is the only one that looks like that. All of my others are very streamline- looking or actually pregnant. I have wondered if this could be a molly guppy hybrid. I am not really sure what to do with it. She appears infertile but healthy. I do not want to kill a healthy fish but if it is a disease I do not want her to suffer. What do you guys think I should do with her?
