I bought this guy to go in my mixed tank which contains old and new world cichlids.

It was sold to me as a strawberry firefish, i have looked online for an id and the closest i got was a dragonblood Peacock.....but that had blue in it.

Any ideas? its very aggressive, i bought 4 and it killed the other 3!

He is gentle to the other fish in his tank tho...Labs, Haps, Convicts, EBJD

Could be a Strawberry/Red Peacock Cichlid, apparently there`s a lot of hybrids of the Peacocks so it may be hit and miss to find info. Yours looks like a young one so once it matures and colours up you may see blue colouring on it.

I found a link that says Strawberry Peacock: http://www.sweetsauer.com/kristis_bliggitty_blog/2010/08/strawberry-peacock-cichlid.html

The Peacock is known to be aggressive, they should be kept in ratios of 1 male to 2-3 females.

Edited to add another link with some info:

Can i keep him as a solo male or will it breed with my Labs/blue haps?

As said its a Aulonocara 'Fire Fish' A hybrid species that becomes very mean as it matures, unlike natural Aulonocara species this is one aggressive species
