What Is This Brown Stuff, Mould?

Could be algae, but i thought that was furry o.O. It has spread all over the gravel, tiny in some parts big in others. Some places have none because the catfish has eaten it.

Brown algae and its common in newly set up tanks of 6 months and under. It will eventually go, but you may want to clean it off with your hands as often as possible, it wont hurt or bother the fish, it just looks unsightly. Lighting doesnt make much difference to it either, it will grow sometimes more in a darker conditions. Still best not to have your lights on more than 8 hours or so a day.
 
It's a pain in the bum,,,only 3 of my kitchen tanks get it,none of the other do, but it looks horrible.
 
Yeah my kitchen tanks get it too dusky, quite dark in there during the day but when the sun hits it about 5pm time it hits the tanks, gotta get a blind or something to stop the sun glare.
