What Is The F1 Scale For Fish

I know some fish are advertised as F1 through to F3 I just wondered if anyone could explain what it meant, I know they mean wild caught. Is it F1 is direct from the wild and f2 the fry of wild parents??

F0 is wild caught, F1 is first generation offspring from F0, F2 is second generation etc
