I wish I had a picture of it on here, but my camera wont download anything anymore.
Anyways, in my signature I have put a list of what I have. You will see the question mark by the Chocolate Gourmi. The thing is I cant remember what it is. :dunno:
Description
Is Brown
Has darker brown stripes running down its body
slender
Hmhmhm.........Looks like a brown gourmi :dunno:

Here are a few pics of various gouramies that might be the fish you have:

Chocolate gourami (sphaerichthys osphromenoides):
http://i.ugtz.com/albums/Soft-Water-Fish/choco.jpg - probably your fish as it is the most common

False chocolate (parasphaerichthys ocellatus):
http://www.aagb.org/fishpics/Pocellatus.gif - the markings on these fish are amazing...

Large chocolate (sphaerichthys acrostoma):
http://aquafish.jp/img/breeding/br005b.jpg - I love the shape of this fish

Vaillant's chocolate (sphaerichthys vaillanti):
http://www.deters-ing.de/Bilder/vaillanti.jpg - wonderful colors don't you think?

Do you recognise any of them?

Those are all various chocolate gouramies. I don't know whether it's possible to confuse those with anything else but just in case...

Here's a croaking gourami: http://www.guppiesforyuppies.co.za/images/...ing_gourami.gif

Here's a sparkler:

Here's a licorice (parasphronemus deissneri): http://www.liveaquaria.com/images/thumbnails/th_89817.jpg - not exactly brown but it is deffinately slender and it has dark stripes running down its body

If it isn't any of those, it might be a paradise fish or some kind of ctenopoma (unlikely).

Thanks, but no........It looks more like the pearl gourmi except darker, thanks for trying though :look:

Like a pearl? But that's nothing like a chocolate :p I agree, if it just looks like a 'darker pearl' it must be some kind of three-spot color morph and gold seems most likely. What size is this fish BTW?
