I need help urgently!

My betta isnt moving!

My thread in the Betta section
I was watching Ramjet while he ate his dinner tonight and i think he has the beginning of white spot?!?!?!?!?

ohmy.gif

There is little spots on him. While they arent bright white i noticed them as the light changed. On his fins and on a few on his body. He has been a bit lethargic the last week. I would catch him just sitting in the bottom corner of the tank. Doing nothing. He would breathe....but thats it. No flapping or dancing about. When i moved he would come to life again unsure.gif

He seems ok right now apart from the spots. All though i just fed him and when he had gobbled all his food i turned the light out, so now its just the natural room light. He is swimming about merrily but then he will stop. Then swim again. He is now curled up down the back of the tank is a ball...sleeping...i think....so i went to say hi and now hes wide awake again...hes acting weird. His fins have started to look a bit ratty aswell and they seem to be a bit stuck together...not clamped to his body. More stuck to each other.

What are the signs of white spot? He would be about 18months old. Im wondering whether he is getting old and his immune system is going down hill?

He is in a 28ltr tank with two small bristel nose plecs.

Tank stats:
1x silk plant
2x caves
Gravel
Heater - 28degrees celcius
Lighting for 8hrs a day

Weekly water change. All the parametres are fine. I added a fraction of ph adjustment the other day but nothing to bad.

What can i use to treat for white spot???? Should i pre-empt white spot and treat?

Hes not bloated. The spots are tiny tiny. i only noticed them because i had my faced up to the glass.

I have had his light off all dAy because i was at work for nearlly 14hrs. I turned it on now and he is taking ages to come to life. sad.gif you can see the white bits on the end of his fins.

He isnt looking well at all. I think im going to cry if he doesnt wake up! sad.gif

He looks miserable. he his eyes are moving but nothing else..

He he gone so down hill today :(

I have white spot meds to treat the tank with so im going to dose.

WHat should i do??

My plecs are in there to. It says to half dose for scaleless fish etc....

hi
sorry to hear about your beautiful betta, it looks like whitespot, use as directed & follow the instructions for your plecs. if not already at 28c gradually warm your tank up by increasing the heater temp slowly over a couple of hours or so. 9this helps speed up whitespot lifecycle so you can kill the parasite. theres lots of good threads on this forum about whitespot if you want to learn more.
im not a betta expert as ive only kept bettas for about 3 years, but apparently the average age for them is only around 2 years ( correct me someone if im wrong someone pls) so maybe your betta is more susceptable to disease now but its definately worth treating him. basil our last betta had whitespot after we bought him & we treated it easily & he recovered fully.
good luck :)

he has gone so down hill today :(

I did a 40% water change yesterday and he hasnt improved. Ive added 3mls of Whitespot Remedy by Aquamaster. It says 5ml per 20ltr tank. It says to reduce dosage by half for tanks with scaleless fish etc so i put in 3mls. It says to repeat after 3days.

Hes just sitting there :-(

I havent moved the plecs incase they are infected as the water transfer wont be good for my other tank. His breathing is hardly happening. The tank was taken up to 28degrees yday from 26degrees. There is an air stone in there so the air is good.

Should i dose with Pimafix aswell?

Is the 3ml enough to medicate or should i add more tmw or just wait 3 days and add again?! How long should i treat him/ the tank for?

hes still sitting down the bottom. He just threw up a bit of food, went up for air and dove straight back down to the bootm. He is going back in the breeders box today. I will just have to make sure it doesnt sink. Its one of those floating ones. Im tempted today to start using an internal bacterial med. There is something weird on him...not only white spot but it looks like something it growing on him or out of him!!!!

#### is going on!!??!! i think im going to be sick of thats something actually growing out of him. I actually feel queezy....

side bar...on the subject of his poo....it appears normal. he isnt bloated. hes a bit fat right now coz he had breaky. but the fact i seen him throw up before is now more worrying...

Ive been treating for Ich/Whitespot over the last week and there has been no improvement. The spots are still there. I put him in a breeders box yesterday so he didnt have to swim so far for air but he trashed around so much i took him out. He didnt move yesterday when i got home and he ate his breaky but then he threw up.

Please help me with this! I dont want him to be in any pain. The two plecs he shares with seem perfectly normal.

Tank size: 28 litres Aqua Start 320
pH: 7 neutral
ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0-0.25ppm
nitrate: 0ppm
tank temp: 28degrees celcius

Fish Symptoms:
lethargic
dives from top to bottom (betta is a surface breather so should be up the top for air) Not happening that often now.
loss of colour
doesnt flare anymore
white spots allover him
also noticed he shudders every now and then over the last couple of days. No sign of flicking against objects but he shuddered when he was swimming before.

STILL EATS, but seen him throw up a bit today. As soon as hes eaten he dives straight back down the bottom. Unless my face is next to the tank he doesnt move.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
weekly 30% water change and gravel vac.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
Internal filter with spray bar, 25watt heater, gravel bottom. Water conditioner used when changing water and ph checked. Been treating for Ich past week and no sign of it disappearing or improving.

Tank inhabitants:
1 male VT betta and 2 baby bristel nose plecs. Plecs arent showing any symptoms or ailing health and are perfectly normal after ich treatments.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):
None.

Exposure to chemicals:
Umm...none? Depends what you mean. Apart from the Ich treatment nothing.
