I have a Pear gourami and 2 paradise fish in my 20 gallon (us) tank. I was wondering what other NONAGRESSIVE fish I could add? I'm really opened for any suggestions.

Thanks, The Duck.

The Pearl Gourami should be kept in groups of 4 and is compatible with the Altum Angelfish, Angelfish, Bala Shark, Betta (Siamese Fighting), Cherry Barb, Chinese Algae Eater, Clown Loach, Corydoras Catfish, Croaking Gourami, Dwarf Gourami, Featherfin Squeaker, Flying Fox, Glass Catfish, GloFish, Kissing Gourami, Kribensis, Kuhli Loach, Otto Catfish, Penguin Tetra, Peppermint Pleco L030, Rainbow Shark, Red Tailed Shark, Rosy Barb, Silver Dollar, Sparkling Gourami, Three Spot Gourami, Tinfoil Barb, Upsidedown Catfish, Zebra Danio.

Paradise Fish mixes well with active fish such as barbs, sharks, swordtails, and small cichlids such as severums and kribensis. Can not be trusted with guppies, angels, goldfish, and small tetras because they can be aggressive.

Thank you! that's a very thorough list!

Just a quick point severums are NOT small cichlids they grow to 8" and are big bodied fish. Apart from that the list seems ok.

Personally I'd go with a group of cories of some kind because they're ust so active scurrying about the bottom and maybe some platies or danios for some more movement higher up.

Where did you copy and paste that from? Some of that is a quite wrong as pointed out severums are not a small cichlid at all and 8 inches is a very conservative size most get to 12 inches tall and long they are a huge fantastic fish that need a big tank. Never heard of pearls needing groups, dont understand where this came from as they work best in trios for breeding etc but do fine on their own. Also to recommend 4 for a 20g tank its not going to work. To add as well Bettas should never be mixed with gourami, aditionaly there are tons and tons of fish that are not suitable for a 20g IE the Clown Loach, kissing gourami silver dollars, tinfoil barb, rainbow and red tailed shark, featherfin squeacker and more to add to that.

To the OP as I said 4 Pearls is not good for your tank. I think you will be at full stock with your 3 big fish really each will get to about 4 inches and would idealy need a minimum of a 30g so think about an upgrade in the future :good: However for now I would think about adding a small group of Harlequin Rasbora say around 6 or 7. Then when you upgrade add some more.

Yeah, I thought that several of those fish seemed way to large for my tank. My worry with smaller fish (like Harlequin Rasbora) is that the paradise fish will attack, and possibly kill them.
