hello all, i am new to this forum and fish keeping. i started re-searching tropical fish around a year ago when i had a spare hour, then the last 3 months i have looked into it more and have order my new tank, 50x18x26 (around 380 litres acording to the online calculator). im going to order my fish online because i have been advised to stay clear of pets at home. the problem is i dont realy know what fish go well together and the names of the nice colourfull ones i have seen. i have seen tetras, zebra loach, blue rainbow and also glass catfish wich looked cool but maybe a bit boring.
if anyone can recomend what fish to stock my tank with then ill do a google search to see how they will look once grown etc.
thanks, james

That would look great. Heavily planted, with tetras all over would be sweet.

But, it totally depends on what "look" you want. Small schooling fish, a few, larger territorial fish... it all depends. So go to your local pet store, and just look around and see what you like. A word of the wise though, is that the pet stores tanks are almost always overstocked, so don't get too many fish, and no where near how many they have per tank. Good luck!

Look at Congo tetras and see if you like them. I like them because they are colorful, active and amusing. They are peaceful and hardy, in my experience.

thanks, 100 neon's would look amazing but i think i would like a wee bit of variety. i have been to my local pet shop and i think i will be going with smaller fish rather than a few large ones. can you recomend any other good community fish with nice colours

Boeseman's rainbowfish looks nice, pricey tho and they need a school. Black Ruby barbs looks very nice as well, schooling fish too.
