hi

i've had a 40L tropical tank for almost a year now and quite recently lots of my fish died due to disease so now i only have...
1 female platy
1 zebra danio
2 bristle nosedcatfish

i do want to get some new fish quite soon but having difficulties on deciding what to get. i am interested in tiger barbs especially the green variety but would they be suitable for my tank and also what other fish would you suggets?

thanks for reading my message and look forward to your replies.

Get neons tetras and bn. Get rid of other fish because they need to be in groups like danio.

BN Grows too big for you tank especially two, I know this as I wanted one in my 60L and was told it was not advisable so 2 in a 40L....., erm get some more Zebra dainos as they like to be in groups

did you find out what killed the other fish? disease is kind of a vague word. before you get new fish you should make sure you're putting them in a good enviornment. or your just going to kill good fish and waste money.

Well since everyone else already tackled the other points to this, green tiger barbs (or any barb really) are fin nippers and probably shouldn't be with fish like platies. Or long finned zebras. (If you have long finned ones) I personally think that green tiger barbs are cool fish too but I would suggest a species only tank of them with at lest ten of them as they are best in groups.

hi

thanks for all the advice.
i was planning on getting more danio's (the one i have is a short fin) and probobly more platy's. the disese that killed most of my fish was a mixture of white spot and finrot and then they lost balance in the water and died. i think the diseases have been killed of now but i'm going to wait for a couple more weeks before i get more fish so i know the tank is 100% ok.
