Hi, due to unforseen circumstances we have just inherited a tropical tank with all the accoutrements. These included a number of fish, four to be precise. The problem is I have been unable to identify their species. Although not a complete amateur (we have had various coldwater fish over the last few years) tropical fish are a new experience for us, and we would appreciate any help anybody has to offer, starting with an ID. I have uploaded the pictures below, apologies if they are a little blurry. Any thanks will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

:hi: to TFF!

To upload pictures to the forum, all you have to do is open a Photobucket account which is free.

Then upload the pictures to photobucket.

After the pictures are uploaded to photobucket, run your mouse over a picture and a little box of codes appear.

Click and copy the code the starts out as , and paste that in the forum, and the picture will appear when you post.

Hope this helps.

This is probably better than having people email you, just because you are going to get more people to look at the picture, and you will have a better chance getting better quicker answers.

Thanks I really appreciate that, I shall hurry on over to photobucket straight away.

The first looks like a platy or molly.

The second photos look like black skirt tetras.

I took the urls you had and just put them in between the , which can be found in the [b]BB Code Help[/b], in the lower right hand corner when you are posting.

Now the pictures can appear right in the forum! :hyper:

Now you know for next time how to post pictures! :good:

Agreed with the above post on the kinds of fish.

Thanks again! I'll get there in the end, thanks for the ID too.

Can you get a clearer pic of the 2nd photo? It's a Tetra of some sort but can't make out which type.

They do look like Black Widow Tetras, they just don't seem as colourful which made me wonder. :)

Such a shame they lose their colour as they are stunning when they are juvenilles. I've never seen one fully grown so didn't realise they faded. :/
