Hi, we are looking to add some new tropical fish with our Betta Fish...One pet store says no Angel Fish another says its okay?! I don't want to add a fish and tick my Betta off...We are looking for affordable fish ($10/fish)....any suggestions? We wouldn't mind adding an Angel Fish but will wait to see if any of you have this combination of fish in their tanks.

Our tank is a 25 gallon tank and there is plenty of room for more fish...currently we have 5 fish in the tank.

Also I removed the plastic plants from our tank because they are too difficult to clean...we are having a problem with, what I think is algae, growth in the tank. Any suggestions? We have 1 bottom feeder thats about 1 - 1.5 inches long...is that enough? no glass cleaners!

Any suggestions will be appreciated since we are new to this forum and owning a tank.

What are those other fish(es)? And what about your water values? pH, GH, KH? Is Betta male or female? What kind of filtration-system have you?

Don't get gouramis to put with him, they will be picking on each other, they most of the time don't get on at all.

Don't put guppies with him either, they will fin nip him. some tetras will as well.

no guppies, if you put a guppy in there it will take about 5 minutes for the guppy to be finless or dead (ive seen it happen) i would get a school of cardinal tetras for in there and maybe a couple plecos that stay small ;) or a few kuhli loaches .. there always fun to watch :look:

I've found danios are ok, mine liked to join in with thier busy lifestyles.....tetra 'can' be ok, but I had fin nipping issues so i won't recommend them....harlequin or lambchop rasboras will be fine, cherry barbs are another good friend (no other types of barbs ebcause of fin nipping)....corydoras are often good friends and of course white cloud mountain minnows!

well i would go with corys a nice little group on the bottom,,,,,,maybe if you can find them an adf<african drawf frog>but make sure its not the clawed variety as they get huge......maybe a nice little group of lemon tetras :good:

:) I have a 20 long communitty tank with a male beta, mollies, guppies, ottos, tettras and they all get along great. The betta has never flared up or has never been aggressive. Good luck![/color]

i had to seperate my betta and angel fish, it was chaos!

Some bettas have eaten too much food left for the loaches and died, so it depends on the betta. I thought cardinals were too nippy, though? If not, yes, they would be alright. White cloud mountain minnows, though hard to find, are a nice addition.
