Hi all,

I'm hoping you experts will be able to help me! :shifty:

Here is a picture of two gourami that I got today. I was wondering what exactly they are called?

They were sold in the shop as 'Red Dwarf Gourami' however, when I look them up online, the picture for a 'Red Dwarf Gourami' is not the same as these at all. Those fish have either neon blue or black on their backs....my ones don't.

There appears to be many, many names and different website have different fish beside their pictures...all the websites appear to have conflicting information on the name.

So far the names I have come across are: Fire Red Dwarf Gourami, Red Fire Dwarf Gourami, Flame Dwarf Gourami, Fire Honey Dwarf Gourami, Red Fire Honey Dwarf....its so confusing!!!!!

Can some tell me what is the exact name of my fish?

It's usually known as Red Honey Gourami but can't remember if it comes under the Latin name Colisa Chuna or Colisa Sota.

When i bought mine, they were called 'Red Honey Gourami' - your's however have extra dotted patterning on the fins, by the looks of it - so may be another strain - 'Fire' or 'Flame' may have been added, but they definately look very similar to Red Honey Gourami.

>>> The females are usually much paler in colour and smaller.

These get sold under a variety of names another being Red Robin Gourami.Latin name is Colisa chuna sp.

Thanks!!

I think they may be Fire Honey Gourami alright going under the umberella name Colisa Chuna ....

There was one website that had a picture of them.

They have dots on their fins...and they look very like regular Dwarf Gouramis but with the neon green taken out....and they are a bit longer in the body, similar to paradise fish, kind of.

There isn't alot on them to read up on unfortunately!
