Kinda off topic but what is the point of a gift card? I've never understood this. They can only be used in one store, You can't use all of it unless you spend some money yourself, and some of them have expiration dates? Please explain to me why a gift card is better than cash with the words (EX) "BUY FISH WITH ME" written on it?

You can use all of the money from the gift card one time. Well I don't usually let a gift card set for a long time and it usually gets used with in a month of getting it.

What are the chances that you'll find something that costs exactly five dollars including tax? Your bound to either spend a couple dollars more than the gift card is worth or to have a few cents left on it.

I dont know the point of giving someone a gift card for 5 bucks but mine is gonna be around $75 and there are tons of things I need to buy as Im in the process of setting up a tank so any money that will help me is appreciated. I have never heard of a gift card having an expiration date, that is stupid. Also most places if you use up all but $5 and below they will give you the cash for it, so you wont have a low amount left on the card.

Visa has a gift card that can be used at many stores, there are mall gift cards too that can be used at any store there.

I think giving money is kinda too thoughtless, atleast with a gift card and it being to a store that they like it tells the person that there was SOME thought and that you do remember what kind of stuff they like and where they like to shop.
