What Do You Think Of Stocking?

hi, i am thinking of finaly finishing the stocking of my 90L with 5 panda garras and some badis.
what do you think?

The Garras and Danios would defintely enjoy some current, ~8x actual water turnover, no idea if Amano Shrimp or Platies would be happy in such conditions.

Now up until very recently, Scarlet Badis have always been thought of as a calm water fish, but then this video showed up at SF...

Quite a current there!

Panda Garras are quite territorial with each other, not that they can give nasty bites to each other with their specialized sucker mouth, but you will see them "bleach" out all those lovely colours. Its good to see someone think of these as a group fish, so that this aggression can be spread out between the group rather than stressing a single weak fish, but I think you will need to give them more space to spread out as they get older, ideally a 5-footer for a group of five I reckon (with at least one more "cave" then the number of Garras, so ~1 square foot per fish).

Do you have plans to get a longer tank in the future, or are you just trying to find a community that can stay long term in the 90l?

i have a fluval 205 on this tank so quite good turn over.
the platies seem to enjoy it.
when previously researching garras a group was suggested for the same reason as you said, defiantly not in pairs.
i could get 3 or 4 cause this tank will be there home for a long time i think.
the tank is 3foot.

I don't think I can put the name of it but its a website that tries to give estimated stocking level and required filtration and so on..

That tank is much too small for the garras. I've kept a group of 6 in a 2x1' tank before and they did fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. Even then it was a species only tank and they were the only fish in there, it was also scape to their needs. The panda garra is a very peaceful garra compared to other species. They sometimes push each other and do quarrel where both fish dramatically change their colors. There is a lot of chasing amongst these fish. They do need lots of individual caves to get into. They are I would say semi-social. The spend time together and spend time defending the areas they have picked as their own. A lot of times there is social non aggressive behavior between them. They do IMO need live plants, wouldn't be fair without them since a number are wild caught. Mine are in a 4 foot tank currently. I also feel such a large active bottom dwelling fish is going to freak out the badis, which from my experience are very tiny and kinda timid things. Garras LOVE to shove their weight around. I also agree that the garras NEED a current that they can get into.

My garras back in the 2 foot tank. Very peaceful fish most of the time. If nothing they have gotten more spazy in the bigger community tank.

thanks, the tank is going to be a perfectly suited to the garras, fast flow sand substrate with lots of rocks and caves, also will be well planted and at 22C. i would realy like these all the other fish are from the same geographic location. i could miss on the badis if they would get hurt with them but all the other fish are quite robust.
