What Do You Think Of My Tank?

you cant be blamed for being badly advised a lot of us have been in the same boat whilst starting out
at this time i dont even think your tank is that badly overstocked(you should see my 100g  )
all your fish are fairly small so whos to say they are unhappy if your filters are doing a good job on keeping nitrite/ammonia out of the tank and your doing regular water changes i dont see a problem.obviously your gonna need to rehome some fish in the near future but thats no drama :D
my advice to you is to get your advice here on this forum rather than the lfs

sound advice thankyou

Just a word of warning, my brother bought an Mbu puffer, it killed everything in his tank except 2 bala sharks and a common plec. I did warn him, but no, he doesn't listen to the lad who has researched things for the past year. It ended up killing £100's of fish (a few L number plecs).

i have heard of this happening many times too,you may say it is totally peaceful at the moment but it may turn on all your fish out of the blue, resulting in a lot of dead :( this risk is all yours :p

i would lose 2 of the oscars the mbu and one ornate bichir and 2 of the sailfin plecs im afraid :(
what filtration are you running just the jewel is it?
where abouts in london are you i might be interested in the mbu :D

I see :grr: I am running the Juwel plus another ehiem external that I added, I also upgraded the pump in The Juwel. I change 40-50% 1-2 weeks..

I can't give away my MBU i'm afraid. He is my favourite. Plus it may be hard for me to find another that will live as peacefully. I bought him at maiden head aquatics in East grinstead for £80 but they have 2 left and have slashed the price to £45. They look pretty miserable in their though.

I'm in purley just outside south London by the way.

It's not a "deal", it's the problem of the fact of how much stress and territory fights are going to break out. Unfortunatly, the best looking tanks to the people who don't know about fishkeeping are those that are heavily heavily over stocked.... :/

But, get a double sized tank. That'd be a start. Then you could seperate some of the fish and that'd sort out the stocking issues.

1. I was using the phrase "deal" in a tougne in cheek fashion.

2. Yes I am new to the hobby but you should probably blame the advice that "experts" give out in lfs.

3. I am clearly trying to resolve my overstocking problem (at great expense to myslef).

4. If I had room for another larger tank I would buy one immeadiately.
thats my local and i dont think i ever seen them that much the highest i've seen them at is £55 and if you did get advice from this branch the staff are extremely educated and have never given me bad advice thus why iam able to maintain as high standards to my fishes lives as possible
EDIT:added bit more

Mbu Puffers ideally should have at least a 500Gall tank to themselves. If you check some of the specific Puffer Forums they recommend a 1000Gall for a fully grown Mbu.

We all know how much crap advice shops give out, always wise to check books or web prior to the purchase...having said that ive done some impulse buying in the past and regretted it

tanks looking good :good: how does the mbu do in the community?

He behaves himself impecibly, the only fish that diaplays any agressive is the slightly larger pleco.

If you could advise me on which fish I should get rid of it appears I have too many, or will ahve once they grow a bit...
how does he behave impecibly when only a few weeks ago he bit a chunk out of your oscars face?

Tank looks wonderful regardless of stocking.
:good:
