What do you feed your fish? I use tropical Malawi flake, sera granugreen, tetra prima and jbl spirulina. And once a week cucumber. Do you think it's a well balanced diet I try to mix it up a bit so they don't get bored. Any suggestions welcome as I'm new to all this.

Thanks guys for any comments.

your's get a way better diet than mine :L mines frozen bloodworms

NLS pellets, Nutrafin Max flakes, Hikari Excel(green) pellets, and romaine lettuce or zucchini for a snack. They seem to respond well with all of these. Of course if you were stuck in room and were hungry, you would eat whatever you can get your hands on! lol

Yeah mine always appear to be hungry. I've been told if they look hungry all the time you are not over feeding. I've had no issues with bloat. They all look well and chunky. I have 3 holding females at the moment. So I can't be going to far wrong. They are breeding constantly. They get granugreen in the morning tropical Malawi flake on an evening. Then spirulina flake once a week. Tetra prima twice a month and cucumber once a week to purge.

Love to see some pics! Really like Ngara White Tail. I only feed once a day with a starve day. They graze on the algae on the rock too. I'm pretty overstocked at the moment waiting to cull back for a better m-f ratio.

I'll post some up in the morning. Just had a few beers and watching the new total recall. It is Friday night after all. The Dom ngara looks great when coloured up. I know what your saying about feeding once a day, but I feed a little twice a day.

Great looking tank and fish

The Ngara will be my next addition when I upgrade to a 75gal(US), Nice rock and some good looking algae growing too. What equipment are you running? Filters, lights, heaters, etc?

Its a juwel rio 240l tank. I'm using a tetratech ex1200 filter. A tetra ap300 air pump. A aps 2500l/h wave maker. Then standard juwel t5 lights and 200w heater that came with the tank. Unipac Senegal sand. And slate from Czechoslovakia. I think that's all of it.

Sorry about the picture quality I took the on my iPhone.

How has that Tetratec worked out for you? I've been looking at the Marineland c360 units. They are the US version of the Tetra's. How many bulbs in the fixture? wattages? I have a Deep Blue 248 with a 10k daylight bulb and Actinic-03 blue bulb. I can't seem to get the nice green algae to grow yet.

The tetratech is great very quiet no issues with priming. I'm quite heavily stocked at the moment and its coping great. Lighting is juwel high lite t5 54w 2 bulbs one nature, one day. My lighting is set 5.30am-7.30am for feeding. Then 3.00pm-9.00pm. A pain to clean the glass though. If you want the growth ya gotta clean the glass a lot.

What are prices like in the states for fish? Can you gets wilds or f1?

I keep mine on for at least 10hrs, mainly afternoon to night. I start off with just the Actinic for about an hour , than both for the majority of time, than the Actinic for the last hour. I heard that it helps simulate a day cycle. Prices really depend on where you get them. Local places vary but don't usually stock much. The places around me that stock a lot of variety don't tend to stock many of each. Juvies are usually around $5-7ea. For my tank, I sourced my whole stocking on-line from one supplier. Overall it cost a little more, especially with shipping, but they had everything I wanted. Unfortunately, I found another supplier after I ordered, that carries wilds and F1 of some of what I wanted, but too late. I plan on culling back for a better m-f ratio soon and I may order more from them when the time comes.

I'm after kawaga gold wilds they are a great looking fish.
