What Do You Do With Waste Ro Water?

Im thinking of getting an RO unit as the water in my neck of the woods is so flipping hard. I have been collecting water in 25L containers from my (not so local) LFS but this is not economical with the fuel, time, etc.

I was thinking of collecting the waste water as well as the RO water. If I set the unit up on the bath tap (higher water pressure) then I could collect the waste in the bath - add some hot water and bubbles and enjoy a splash around.... Or at least clean the bath!

Does anyone on here use their RO waste water for anything? Ideas please else I will feel so guilty for wasting water!

Back when I was gonna Marine i got a RO unit and some plans i had was to collect it in a dustbin, then use the hose and a pump to water the plants and garden

+1 to watering plants and garden.

You can put it in your washing machine if you have some clothes that need washing. Mine has a sensor so it knows how much to fill the tub. So the clothes get a wash with a bit of RO water and a bit of the regular stuff.

You can also use it to wash your car (if it needs it).

Now that it's summer, it can be used to fill up the kiddy pool.

If you have a dog, maybe he needs a bath?

After all that work, time to put the kettle on!

Do you find it hard to get the car all soapy....? I have lived in soft and hard water areas and have had so many more soap bubbles with softer water.

Sadly the soil is quite alkaline here too so I wouldnt water the garden for fear of raising the soil pH even more alkaline. I guess the kettle idea is an interesting one - but that would mean more regular descaling which is a pain to do....

I LIKE the washing machine idea. They use so much water. Could use the water - add a little extra washing soda to the detergent to deal with the increased water hardness and get some nice clean trousers! Great idea Caprichoso :good:
