Hello
I have yellow labs in with my Hongis, Fellabornia (cant spell it!), Rusties and Kingsizei's

They are pretty hardy and will go with quite alot but that is what they are with in my 3 footer.

Hope this helps.

Well I'd say your highly overstocked for that size tank. I'd say 20 fish at the very most and that's with 10x tank turnover filtration.

^^It's best not to mix fish with the same genus as they're more likely to hybridize and corrupt the gene pool. Labidochromis Caeruleus, and Labidochromis Hongi.

If you want, take a look at your lfs tell us what interests you and we'll help w/compatability. That's about the easiest way to do it, unless your prepared to order online. Labs can go with quite a few different species. A really stunning tank would be mixing w/pseudotropheus demasoni. They are a great fish to mix with those. Stunning blue/black fish mixed w/bright yellow :)

Anyways, let us know what you think and we'll help.

Yes I see both your points but as long as you have enough females to males you could be okay and also it depends if you want to breed or not. If you dont it would not matter.

There will be breeding, unless there aren't any females or the conditions are horrible. At some point he'll need to give some away especially as the tank gets crowded. There will always be a few fry that seem to survive against all odds. Passing hybrids on only messes up the gene pool really. There's a good many fish species that are becoming increasingly hard to come by in their native habitat (not nec. labs) and keeping clean strains may be the only way to keep those species around, imo.
