take riccia out of that list and whats needed is:

tank, with filter, heater, and at least 1 light tube(tank length)
water
gravel/sand- could upgrade to a plant substrate like oliver knotts nature soil- 49.99 for 10l
tpn+(fert)
easycarbo(Co fert)-although this isnt essential with lighting under 2wpg.

go on aqua essentials and see the prices, but basically its just an all in one fert thats needed(tpn+) a good substrate(depending on budget) and liquid carbon fert(easycarbo/ae carbon/seachem excel)

so it will cost like 100 dollars in total othere than tank, heater, filter and whatnot.

It's definitely far from cheap. Trust me, if you get a good co2 system that alone will caust you at the LEAST 90 dollars. BUT be aware that the more things cost doesn't exactly mean their the best. Research reviews on what you buy first.

What tank size you plan on having? ANd I would definitely recommend a good lighting system. Current USA has some excellent lighting systems for freshwater tanks. Go with a nova extreme freshwater t5 lighting system.

You also will probably want to add a powerhead to create good current in your tank. More current means less likelihood of an algae problem. Hydro Koralia's are some of the best around. Check out dr fosters n smiths website; they're having a pretty good sale on those.

ALso AdAndrews: WHy can't he have riccia?

have never grown plants before so I couldn't tell you. Sound pretty interesting though!
