Hi I'm new to fish keeping

I have a 180 litre tank and so far only 10 fish (7 Tiger Barbs and 3 Pearl Gouramis)

Any sugguestions on what would be good tank companions with what I have already?

The Barbs were scared of the Gouramis when they were first added, but settled down over a few days.

Any idea what the maximum number of fish I should consider, I don't want to overfill the tank.

Actually, the fish you have already aren't good tank companions. Tiger barbs are very aggressive (not good community fish at all) and will eventually harass the gouramis to death. As far as stock is concerned, the general guide for beginners is 1" of adult fish per gallon of water. Your tank is about 47 gallon and you currently have about 33" (21 for the barbs and 12 for the gouramis) so you aren't far from being stocked now. With extra filtration and a good maintenance schedule, you can exceed that but it's a good starting point until you become accoustomed to your tank.
