Hi
I thought id come and ask the experts what brand tanks are best. Ive had fluvel duos previously but it appears there arent as many around anymore (has production stopped or they changed the name?) so i was wondering what brand tanks you would recommend and where are the cheapest places online to order them from (UK)

Thanks
Emma :)

Hi Emma,

It really depends how much you want to spend, but the popular manufacturers include:-

Aqua One
Juwel
Fluval
Rena
Clearseal

With regards where to buy, again it depends what you want but i find Seapets to be very competitive.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Cheers :good:

The juwel tanks are well made it just the euipment like lighting, filter, and heater that are not up to much.

I think its personal preference. Obvioulsy wilder doesnt like Juwel, but I personally like Juwel tanks.
I think as a started tank its great, well made and you get everything you need including T5 or T8 lights, which can cost alot on their own.

The main think really is to set yourself a budget and then see whats available, you can sometimes get some bargains on ebay, certainly for juwel tanks, but also check out the buy and sell forum on here, see if theres anything there.

Hi,

Just wondering what size tank you are looking for as I have a 7 weeks old perfect condition Fluval 90 (90 litre) that i'm trying to sell. It comes with lighting, heater, cabinet and I bought separately a Fluval 105 external heater (also 7 weeks old and in perfect condition).

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks

Gemma

I have a clearseal tank but the cabinet is home made. I like it.

When I was looking for mine, I found the high street stores were cheaper than the online places. I ended up getting my Juwel Vision 180 from Pets at Home.

Probably going to start with a 125-180 litre tank this time and once im back in the swing of things increase the capacity.
Thanks for everyones replies xx

i got a Aqua Vital / Aqua vista, its the exact same as the aqua one in almost every way ( i cold swear theyre the same company), Same design & Looks, same cabinet !!!!, but came with external and not built in trickle filters and were generaly £70 - £100 chaper than aqua one.

The equipent which comes with juwel tanks is pretty c***.Full stop. The lighting units are known to break after 2-4 years, the powerheads in the filters are known to be faulty. The hood flaps on the larger tanks break off.The brace bars snap leaving you with a bowing tank, ready to burst. The filters are pretty good, but take up way to much space and look pretty ridiculous. All, apart from the breaking down of poweheads has happend to me.

If I were you I would buy a custom made tank from BOSS or a fish shop near you, get it built how you want and buy a descent external filter and heater :good:

I have had Juwel tanks for about 6 years now with no problems with the tank or equipment. I'd recommend them. :good:

If you want real quality however, go for a Rena tank. They're the only manufacturer i know who give a 5 year guarentee on their tanks, but they are expensive.
