What Bad Habits Do You Have?

I still suck my tube even after being told by someone on here that I could catch something nasty.

I also override the timer on my lights so I can show off my tank if people are coming while the lights aren't on, but then I forget to put it back to timer and the poor fish have the lights on all night :(

Do regular timers work on tank lights? Because I'm thinking of getting one of those automatic feeders and I don't want my fish being fed while the light is off because I find that when that happens they feel more safe when the light is off and won't swim around or eat when the light is on.

If you have a seperate powerpoint for your lights - indeed they do :)

Gosh, I'll probably sound really bad for all these!

- Starting the water change by sucking the tube

- Feeding too much

- Not testing the water more than once a week

- Lights on too long (after an algae outbreak that wont happen again though...)

oh and the worst is forgetting to add dechlorinator till the new water has been in the tank for about 5 minutes.

I dont have my lights ion enough!
I only turn them on at night, when I feed them.
but with my bright yellow room, i dont want to blind them

Bad habits.......

.......as some have already admitted to:

Not watching the bucket when gravel-vaccing........ending up with wet carpets (again!)

Barely ever testing the water (unless there is a problem of course).

Keeping water changes to a minimum.

Not looking after my plants enough.......

mine is feeding the fish out of schedule because "Im just so sure that they are hungry".

What do you mean by seperate powerpoint, do you mean power strip? If so could I just plug the timer into a extension cord then plug the light into the timer?

I try to keep on a feeding schedule, feeding everyone in the afternoons when I get home from work. But some mornings I find myself with a little free time and will sometimes feed some of the tanks. Then when I get home from work, I check my daily To-Do list (yes, I'm anal), see "Feed Fish" and realize "Oh, I fed some of you this morning, but who?" I need to find other things to do in the mornings............

My only fishkeeping badhabits are oversatisfaction while gravel vaccing (I do about 120 of them every sunday at work...) and overfilling buckets and erm... sucking on the tube to get it started, I just dont have time for any other methods.

With my own tanks at home tho, I absolutely cant risk spilling any water and I use a biorb siphon so pretty much all my possible habits are whipped out of me either by fear of my landlord taking my deposit or at work mistakes obviously have to be a minimum!
