hi just starting my first tank and i have seen the backgrounds that go inside the tank like a stone wall type effect what is the correct name for this type of background? also could anyone advise me on what type of this background would go well with the dorset pea gravel?

I dont if this is what you are looking for but this is in my guppy tank. Mainly just rocks I got from the beach siliconed to each other

it's not but that looks really good. no what I am talking about is artificialand you cut it to size and put it at the back of the tank

cheers can you recommend any websites to buy from, also I seen these type of backgrounds in my local tropical fish shop but I have to buy them and cut to size myself. can I order to size do you know?

What you also can use as a repplacement is styrofoam to cut it out and paint it and put it in your tank.

They come in a variety of sizes to fit common sizes of tanks, ie 3ft 4ft. They are fairly easy to cut and can be fixed on with silicone sealer.

Just to jump sideways a little, i simply have matte black card taped to the back of the tank (on the outside) and it looks fab in my opinion :)

The 3D backgrounds that go inside the tank displace some water reducing the volume of the tank, something to bear in mind.

If you just want something that looks like a stone wall, they do make those plastic sheets that stick on the ouside in rock designs.
