They look lke a cichlid of some sort .

Very active and havent managed to keep much with them except a cat fish and angle

Cheers

Mike

Cool Severum. What size are they in? Could be stunting eeing as these are fish that grow 10-12" and equal in height. These are also massive waste producers and are actually peacful for their size.

Cheers,
The biggest one is probably about 6/7" and the other about 3"

My tanks 4' long so they have plenty of space for dashing about.

Do you reckon they are a pair as the smaller one has a white belly and they lip lock alot

You could have got more help in the NW section. The white belly doesn't mean anything but the lip locking does. If you could get a pic of both, someone, or me, could tell you. Those are Heros Efacstius I think, a Turquoise Severum.

there's one of them both...
I cant see an option on the "edit" to move the topic to another forum... is there one ?

yep those are severums a large south american cichlid that requires a minimum of 75g tank for 1 for 2 like you have youre looking at 100g minimum. what size tank have you got them in?

just noticed after reading again that your tank is 4 foot long but what are the other dimensions? width and height. most importantly width

Looks like male and female. The male will have the cheek marks the female will not have marks on the gills/ cheeks.

Tank is 4x1.5x1.5' there aint much else in the tank except a medium sized angle and cat fish.

Have been at friends past 2 days, but good pair there. Gonna get my green as soon as Iget my 100 USG and it gets cycled. Gonna use mature media, seeding, and gonna add goldfish too. That'll be enough to get it ready in a week.

Why add goldfish why not just add pure ammonia? Would make more sense to me.

Thanks for all the info before .... now need more help !!!

They have spawned and I am woundering what to do .... do you need to split the eggs from the parents ? or more inportantly from the cat fish and angle ?

I have an old Bi-orb in the loft which is the bigger one (90l i think) Could set this up for the fry ?
