Hi, i just bought these 3 plants for my non-CO2 tank. i'm new to the whole planted-tank thing and am trying to ease into it. the guy at the lfs told me the names of the plants, but i can't remember what he called them. he said that these would do ok without co2, so i hope he's right!
I also had a pleasant surprise when i bought the plants... i thought that all stems would be joined, but no, so i actually got about 3-4 of each! woot!

if anyone can tell me what they are and any info on proper planting, that'd be great! the tank is a 55g with sand substrate (its the pic in my sig).
thanks!!

Oops! forgot the pics!

Sorry to say but the 1st and 3rd plants are NON-aquatic and in time will just rot in the tank, second one i would say a crypt but im crap at ID'ing and probably way off on that one :p

if they aren't aquatic, then why aren't they in the non-aquatic list? i tried to keep my eye out for those...

I'm not sure about the first one, but the third is definitely a Dracaena of some species; I don't know how so many shops are mangaging to continue selling those as aquatics, but it happens all the time; take it out and it'll make a lovely house plant!

Not the greatest pic in the world, I know, but this is my son's Dracaena;

Sold to his dad as an aquatic, rescued by us and now looming over our kitchen as you can see!

At least one of them is, if not the exact species it's still part of the same family called dracaena as fluttermoth has mentioned.

To answer your question though...... i have no idea why anything wouldn't be in the resorce section, that is a question that should be asked of the mods :good: , both species may be there but i really don't know. Sorry :no:

But be assured 2 of the 3 plants are not aquatic and that's all really i can positively tell you :)

bah... so much for that place... i'll stick with them for their fish as they're the only option over petsmart, but i think any future plants will be bought online after checking types. i'm seriously annoyed with the lfs!

anyone know what the other one is? from other pics i've seen, i think it's a crypt, but i'm not sure.

Walk into your local Walmart, Superstore or better yet a botanist store's garden section and see if you can ID your non aquatic plants. I've seen the first one in my mother's garden :-/

There are more plants then you can imagin in this world, it would be very easy to miss a few on the non aquatic list, I believe it was made for more common plants sold in aquarium shops.

im pretty sure its a crypt aswell, sme shaped leaves as my one.
