Well the title say's it all really....

In your opinion what are the cheapest most effective internal filters available?

web site address' would be fantastic.

thanks for the info bigc, however my fry and breeding tanks range from 50-150 litres so un-fortunately they are too small, althought i will deffinately keep them in mind for small container/tanks. Many Thanks

Then you've pretty much ruled out most internal filters. A fluval 4 might do the job, but its just about the biggest internal filter you'll get.

The 50L should work on one of the ones for a tenner that BigC posted up.

mmm the fluval 4 is just to expensive for a large set up, i've always used IN 600's which are fine for larger volumes than they are meant for, these go for £20 which is fine for 1 or 2 but i was hopeing i was missing a little gem out their somewhere.

I agree with Big C that air driven sponge filters are the way to go. Regular internals are overkill as they cost alot for that job and they may be too powerful for fry.

mmm i'm comeing round to the idea after reading some reviews. i will start a new post if i don't get any reply's but has anybody used the Huey Hung filter range (100 litre+). If so are they reliable/durable, is it easy to buy replacement sponge, if not how long do the sponges last?

check on ebay for a magi-flow filter, the largets is about the equivalent of the fluval 4 and is priced at about £15 or so.
I have the 700 (i think) and use it now as a backup filter, origininally used it for about a year alongside an external in my 4 footer
