What Algae Do Otos Eat?

I need an algae eater. I have some crazy long black hairy algae growing on some of my plants. Not so much on the walls of my tank, but will the otos eat the black hairy stuff? I would love to buy an SAE, but when I asked about then, my LFS is convinced it's the same thing as a Flying Fox So, currently that leaves me with the Otocinclus as my only option.

Tell your LFS the difference the black stipe extends through the middle of the tail on the SAE it does not on the flying fox

Ottos wont make an impact. They prefer diatoms.
The underlying cause of your black hair algae is a combination of too much light and not enough CO2. Treat the underlying cause and the algae will go away, never to return.
