I checked my breeding net with my one day old swordtail fry for the hundredth time today, only to find of them missing. I was so frustrated, because I was sure that couldn't be possible! Finally, after staring into the net for quite some time I finally discovered the fry crushed between the net and the frame. the poor little bugger was trying desperately to worm his way out, but he was totally stuck. Thankfully I had a ten gallon breeding tank prepared, so I gently removed the neting and freed the little guy. Thankfully he wasn't hurt, although I was sure I'd crush him in my attempt to free him. Ugh. What a stupidly designed breeding net!!!! Has anyone else ever had problems with breeding nets?

I have read the same basic complaint by other people. I don't use breeders so have no personal experience with them.

hmm...yes, well, thankfully with my breeding tank, I won't need to use it again, or at least only in emergencies. :D

i got fed up with them so my fry are now in a 38l tank! i will be selling them in a few weeks.

i have never used a net or trap yet for livebeares. I tend to let them free swim

I tried to let my swords give birth in the community tank, but not one survived. My main tank is just too dangerous, lol.

i have lost a few in ther past. I have 12 out of 18 mollie fry now 2 months old and doing well.
