The "real" donuts from my bakery days didn't come in "holes". Yes, I lived in MA for 10 years & have had Dunkin munchkins, but they're not the same as regular donuts. They have more grease (fry oil) & glazing per bite. I did say I was a donut snob...It's a fine line to some people but, well, maybe you're not up to my snobby standards, lol

Here's the funny thing.....around here you wouldn't get that incredible discount if you paid in cash. Since they stopped making the penny nobody knows how to deal with change so they'd round up to $5 anyway. Smokin' deal.

And Dunkin doesn't make real donuts. They're round cakes. Pfffft!

I used to think stories like the 2 for 25 were arithmetic issues, but I think so less and less. I think they're reading comprehension. It isn't that people can't do basic arithmetic - it's that they don't consider what they're reading enough to bother taking the extra second. Some of that I've learned from this forum, where we all misread or gloss over questions at times. Most of it is out in the world.

Simple arithmetic (as opposed to mathematics) is easy if people focus. I say that as a person with next to no mathematical ability, and probably a learning disability in that field. But you have to stop and consider, and when it comes to analyzing anything, speed kills.

Quick judgments of complex situations lead us to very weird conclusions, as we see in the world around us. If you look quickly at an ad and don't ask yourself why it's set up as it is, you can easily fall for it. It's not stupidity or poor education - it's inattention. The leopards must have loved that trait in our ancestors.

the only doughnut you should eat is the one you make from scratch while camping. It is really easy ! They do taste good but i haven't done it since like 40 years ago.

My great grandfather, who died when I was 13, came to America in 1905. He was a baker and opened a neighborhood bakery in the Bronx. He baked the best rye breads. I never had better.

I really like my little coastal city, but you can't get any decent rye bread here. No quality rye, no Russian black rye bread, no egg bread or quality breads with seeds in them. You can get local recipe traditional molasses bread, but I'm diabetic. We need some eastern European bakers.

With the tragic situation in the Ukraine and the influx of refugees, I was hoping a baker would appear and go into business locally, but alas, no.

Both my great grandmothers died when I was 16 (@gwand we were both fortunate to know family that far before us). My Welsh great grandfather, whom I never met, came here as an immigrant baker too. His specialty was apparently biscuits/cookies.
