The tanks dimensions are 60 x 30 x 40 cm and i am looking to put a single cichlid or a pair of cichlids in their. Obviously i know that i am fairly limited due to size but does anyone know some 4-5 inch cichlids that have PERSONALITY.

look up the Ram cichlid they are not like other cichlid they are part of the cichlid family but are very peace full.

I wouldn't say rams are peacefull but they are a decent thing to get for that tank size.

Thanks for the suggestion but i have trouble keeping rams due to water hardness. I was actually hoping for something a bit more aggressive anyhow.
This may be pushing it a bit but what about a single sajica or cutteri cichlid. As i said i want something that will interact with me as it will be the only fish in the tank...

a couple kribensis! they"'re territorial.

I'm hoping to stay away from your average dwarf cichlid (rams, apistos, kribs etc) mainly because i have kept them all before and want to try something new but also because i want something a bit bigger.
Ideally i would like either a single fish or pair of fish that reach about 5 inches (4 minimum)

Not sure how big Juwel Cichlids get but fantastic if you get a breeding pair? African Cichlids.

I think that there are several fish that are all related and go by the name of jewel cichlid? The most common one grows to about 6 inches i think so a pair may be pushing it. Its an interesting suggestion though and i will look in to it. Thanks!

I've been doing a bit of research into the different types of jewel cichlid and judging by their max sizes, i think a pair of one of the following  would be suitable:
Hemichromis lifalili or hemichromis stellifer, they both max out at around 4 inches so i don't think a pair would overstock my tank.

And they're extremely pretty :D

Do you know any online stores that might stock them?
