I found an uprooted tree stump local to me, and pulled out some really nice roots.
Brought them home, and now they are in the garden. I was pulling off the stringy root bits, and noticed what appears to be some kind of white fluff underneath the outer layer of bark.
I am assuming that this is some kind of fungus.
My questions are:
Is this safe? I will soak them in hot water, and this should kill off the fungus? What about salted hot water?
I didnt really want to strip off the bark, as the roots are fairly thin (width of a pencil) will this be ok?
Thoughts?
