Hey All!!

I just got home from work and went to see my beloved Puffer's!! Anyway, once i'd checked my prize fish we're ok I had a quick glance into my Tropical tank (next to Puffer tank) to check that everything was OK! I was glancing around and saw this little movement! Looked up and there was a mature fry there!! The tank contains lots of fish so it's going to be exciting to see what it grows into! I posted pictures of some eggs I found about 2 weeks ago (seen below)

Anyways, everyone was in agreement that they where Cory eggs and that they would probably be eaten! The eggs vanished 3 days later and I never saw any fry so assumed that the eggs where Cory eggs and that they had been eaten! Obviously, we we're all wrong because I just found fry! (Not Cory fry!) It's quite big - if it was from them eggs them it must be about 1.5 weeks old! It's impossible to see what type of fish it is! My favourite guess is that it's a head and tail tetra fry... but it could be;
- Neon Tetra Fry
- Head + Tail Tetra Fry
- Cherry Barb Fry
- Cory Fry (it's not though!)
- Platy Fry (The platies in the tank have been in there months and both are female and it doesn't look like platie fry)

That's why i'm guessing head + tail fry!!

This is exciting, I hope it survives!! I'm treated the tank with Melafix at the moment so hopefully it won't die! I'm doing a water change now anyway so i'll look for more babies!!
:good:

EDIT - I'll give you 2/1 on Head + Tail Tetra, 5/1 on Neon's Tetra, 6/1 on Platy, 10/1 on Cherry Barb and 56/1 on Cory Fry! He he!! I'm excitied!

They look like cory eggs to me! So I'll take Cory fry please after all arent the rest of the fish egg scatterers (sp)? The eggs also look large for tetra eggs but I could be completely mistaken!

Are you going to quarantine the fry so it doesnt get eaten? Then at least we will get to know what it grows into!

Anyway I'm really excited for you!

So what do I get if I win lol

Their not cory fry! Their swimming around at the top of tank and look like fish! Not Catfish!

I've just done the water change and found at least two! I hope there isn't millions more because it will overstock the tank! I'm not going to quarantine them because they already look big enough to survive and there's loads of hiding spots!

EDIT - According to a website i've just read. I would be the first person on record to have breed Head + Tail tetra in a home aquarium!! Obviously I doubt this is true though!

pictures?

oh , and ill put ?5 on the cory fry < i like those odds! >

Their NOT cories!! Their fish, not catfish!! Also, their hiding in the plants and it's impossible to get a picture of them with my crappy camera!

i dont care , id take 56/1 odds that they are a new species of fish altogether - 56/1 = bargain!

Well, their both growing so so so fast!! Their developing black tips to their fins!! (Similar to head + tail tetra)! The idea of them being Cherry Barbs is also starting to take me fancy!

It's exciting!

Perhaps these fry are from a different fish spawning! But I think those other eggs in the pic are cory eggs for def as cherry barbs and Tetras are egg scatterers and their eggs would be tiny compared to those in the picture! And if the eggs disappeared they were more than likely eaten!

Still I cant wait to find out what these fry turn out to be!

Yea, I also thought those eggs looked way to big for tetra, also tetras dont lay on a surface
