Well, That's An Exciting Moment!

Perhaps these fry are from a different fish spawning! But I think those other eggs in the pic are cory eggs for def as cherry barbs and Tetras are egg scatterers and their eggs would be tiny compared to those in the picture! And if the eggs disappeared they were more than likely eaten!

Still I cant wait to find out what these fry turn out to be!

I agree with that completely =) It's actually quite common that once 1 fish starts spawning, others in the tank do too. They think it has something to do with the hormones being released into the water. I think the eggs in the picture are corydoras fry, whether they ever hatched or not I don't know. I think the other eggs you found, as well as the fry, are from a different fish that has started spawning at the same time/right after the corydoras did. Out of the fish you got, corydoras are the only ones that lay their eggs onto the surface of either plants, pots, filters, or even on the glass. The other fish don't stick their eggs on anything, they just drop them. Which is why it would be likely that you completely missed the eggs that were just laying on the bottom, they hatched ... and you now have some unknown fry!

I am quite curios as to what the fry are though!

sorry for asking but whats the eye thing behind the black area of the tank?? it has curly brown stuff around it.... kinda looks like a dog maybe? but dogs eyes dont look like that... or am i just seeing things...

Anyways, cant wait to see what they turn out to be.

I think the eye thing is a bubble, it looks like the filter has been lifted from the aquarium for the photo to be taken!

How are the fry doing? I'm looking foward to a confirmed ID :)

Here is a link to a site with an article on successfull breeding of Hemigrammus ocellifer :http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/breedi..._ocellifer.html

Hi! Thanks Lawrence that article was very useful!

If you mean the eye is the bubble, then yes... Lawrence was right! I took the filter out of the tank for a moment to take the photo! That created a bubble that looks like an eye! (if that's where you mean!)

The fry are doing well, getting braver! I see them out and about a little more! It's weird because they show characteristics of loads of fish!
- They have tips to their fins like Head + Tail tetra
- They are constantly producing waste that hangs from them for ages like platies!
- They are similar shape to Neon's!

The only fish they don't resemble is the Cherry Barbs but that probably means they will turn out to be Cherry Barbs!!

I'm hoping to make an ID of them anyday soon!
:good:

lol i feel stupid now....... ohhhh wellllllll

edit: Wait!!! :X im confused now. lol this is what i meant... well ill have to repost the pic, it wont let me edit and add one....

UPDATE - I'm 100% sure there is 3 of them! :D

My idea of what fish they belong to has changed from head + tail tetra to Platties. However, the two platties in my tank are both female and to my knowledge have never been with males (maybe at LFS.. but that was 4-5 months ago!) ... ID should be possible soon!

Maybe now is the time to invest in a really good camera so we can see the fry as well? :p
I'm looking forward to finding out what they are =)
