Well I've Sortie Been Screwed By My Lfs

I've been to my LFS and I've bought some more Molly's 6 to be exact and I bought

4 black female Molly's
1 copper Molly female
1 orange and black female

The women got a Molly that I wanted which was a slightly preg Molly do it gave me a few weeks to get the breeder tank ready and here's the catch


The 4 black Molly's are preg and one is ready to pop any time now !!!!!

So I'm going to have to be cruel and let most of the fry get eaten as my breeder tank won't be big enough for all these fry

Most mollies are pregnant when you bring them home. In fact, they can hold sperm and have fry three times without you having a male in the tank. Think, one batch a month for three months.

most livebearers are already pregnant when you buy them lol. i have a community tank and just leave the fry in there. thunder dome style!

I know most of them are preg when they come out of there but I asked for one that was slightly preg and I ended up with 4. Don't get me wrong I'm chuffed that I'll be having babies but I'm sortve on the back foot now with a breeder tank that ive got to somehow get it sorted pretty quick.

in a couple of my LFS they have mixed tanks and all the females are always pregnant. there is tonnes of fry in the tanks aswell. mollies/platys/swordtails and guppys mixed lol

I've woken up to new fry !!!!!!! I can only find 3 none of the new fish was showing the white tube before I went to bed but I have a feeling my biggest isn't finished as she's still huge

correction to the 3 fry ive found 5 and they are now in my net, i cant believe that one of them dropped as i couldnt see the white tube before i went to bed at 1am so didnt think she was going to drop last night pics to follow

Don't get me wrong im chuffed but it's put the pressure on me to get the breeder tank up and running quicker and make sure there's no issues like ammonia ect but hay joys of fish keeping I guess lol

Take some of your media out of you main tank filter to kick start the filter in the fry tank. And congratulations on the babies.

ill have to do what you said scales9 and my mate has just spotted another baby so the grand total so far is 6 and my big mumma is still huge does anyone reckon she'll drop again tonight

looks a bit too big to be pregnant... i have 4 mollie females and 2 are pregnant atm. squared off and everything and there no where near that size.

sure its not something else? i could be wrong though. im very new to fish keeping

and if anything youve gained. if the fry survive you can sell them back to some LFS for store credit.. win/win situation if you ask me.

Those last 2 pics make her look like her scales are sticking out, this is a sign of dropsy. This could explain why she's not had them yet. I have never experienced it but seen pics. I would wait until someone with more experience confirms it or says i'm talking rubbish lol.

Hope it's not dropsy that fish is swimming around normaly and her scales aren't lifted they are more stretched if anything where she's huge
