Hi, sorry to be a pest, but I'm working on my website, and I wanted to throw it at some people who know Betta and see if the information appears to be accurate.

Spelling and Grammar to still be fixed, but it shouldn't be horrible. :)

The Back to Home links on the Betta Care page will not work until I make the site live. ^^;

Thanks, and all opinions are appreciated.

Becca

It'd help if I added the link, no? My Webpage

looks good, but there are some things I would change. a few errors, or mislead information. first is this paragraph:
Third: Bringing your Betta home. This is a rough time for your fish. He has been dumped out of his temporary home, tossed into a bag, had people move him all about in this moving bad.

need to change the word "bad" to "bag"

second thing is about the feeding information you put down. you said:
Your betta should eat once or twice a day. Feed him only as much as he can eat in 2 minutes, and then remove the excess food.

you should never depend on minutes to go by feeding bettas, they will continuosly eat until they get swim bladder or constipation, so I would add something like "2-4 pellets in the morning, and 2-4 at night, maybe a bloodworm treat now and then but dont overfeed them"

one more thing is..I wouldnt discourage buying bettas from petco or walmart as much as you do in this article, because I have bought 4 of my bettas from petco and 2 from walmart and they are gorgeous and healthy..not all petcos and walmarts are bad, so mention that.

as for everything else it looks great and well written! ;)

i wouldnt say that they are easy to keep. that might make people think they can just throw them in a bowl of tap water and never change it.

well the thing is they are easy to keep, as long as you dont have hundreds of them..she goes on to say how to take care of them and keep them healthy so i dont think she needs to take that out. with the right education people can keep them very easily.

Thanks for the input!

The reason I discouraged against walmart, petco, etc, is because the new Betta owner wont know how to nurse a sick betta back to health. From what I've seen, you will mostly get sick betta at any of those stores.

I'll make sure I add a note in there regarding the stores, and my reasoning for that.

And I'll fix that typo! Thank you. :)

And yes, jacblades, they ARE easy to keep, as long as you RTFM. It takes about 20 minutes a week to take care of a betta.

Thats a LOT less than a dog, cat, bird or other animal.

(all of which I've owned.)

Hell, they are easier than most types of fish.

My 2 cents on that. :)

*goes to make fixes*

pretty good i enjoyed the site, are you going to add a breeding info page

I would like to, eventually, but I have never bred Betta. Until I do, it doesn't make sense for me to provide the information.

Of course, I could provide theory, if someone would like to donate information on breeding of Betta. I've read a lot about it, but I have not done it myself.

i agree with that. i dont think they are necessarily easy becuse of the amount of posts here and in other forums i see that say "i just got a betta. it died. i dont know why."

That is very true, Jac. But that is because most of these people are buying SICK fish, from walmart, petco, etc...

Give them instructions on how to care for and select a fish, and it has that much more chances of survival.

:)

Very nice website, the more you learn about the betta the better your website will be. Looking foward to seeing it completed.

Thanks :) I'm going to keep adding more and more information as I go along, so :)

I hope to make it a good resource site, where people can find the info they are looking for if I don't provide it myself :)

And its a fun project, really :)
