i have just found a pregnant guppy so
we have just got a new marina floating fish hatchery because i through out my old net it turned into a snail farm

Why in the world would you do something like that?

I know they are popular with some people but they are just one of my pet peeves. I much prefer to put a heavy female into a tank alone and let her give birth in that tank.

we only have one tank does anyone else have the same breeding trap

i have one,but learnt my lesson with putting a platy in too early and she started aborting,i just use my trap now for when i catch any fry and leave them floating in there for a few days before i put them into my fry tank.

i had one for my guppies, didnt put female in it though, just let her give birth in the main tank then as the strongest fry swam around i netted them and kept them in there just to make sure they were feeding before they went in their own tank.
a female wont give birth unless she is comfortable in her surroundings and a little plastic box isnt going to please her!!!

the female has just given birth to 20 odd fry, so the trap worked well for me she has only been in it for a couple of days and will be released soon has she has stopped :good:

Traps are fine for people with only one tank, however you need to ONLY put the female in if you are SURE she will have the babies in the next 12 hours, dont keep her in longer than that.

Congratualtions. That is a lot of guppies.
Do you have a 29 gallon or larger tank to raise them in?
