Due to osmosis, a freshwater fish is constantly taking in water through it's skin, so they produce huge amounts of very dilute pee and are peeing nearly all the time, but they never drink.

Saltwater fish are the other way around; they're always losing water to the sea (because it is denser than they are) so they drink all the time and hardly ever pee, but when they do it's very concentrated and in very small amounts

Also because of osmosis. If there's a skin problem a freshwater fish can drown and a saltwater fish can die of thirst ( or possibly the other way around)
